Lorwyn Eclipsed Dance of the Elements: 10 Cards to Buy and 8.5 to Sell Ahead of the Precon Release

The Lorwyn precon lists just dropped so there are some reprints coming that you might want to clear out your copies of (a reprinting almost always drops the price of the existing copies). There are also some cards that fit excellently with the other precon cards that our data science algorithms suggest could be up for a price rise if Dance of the Elements turns out to be popular (and who doesn't love 5-colour elementals?)

Here are our list of cards to clear out of before the precons drop in 2 weeks, and also the cards that you might want to pick-up now because their demand might well rise with the precon releases.
10 Cards to Sell (or hold long enough for the Lorwyn reprint supply to wane)
Timeless lotus: Alas, destined never to reach the heights of its alpha sibling, this Lotus is currently loitering around the $15-$20 price on tcgplayer, probably not for long...

Cream of the Crop: Harkening back to the original Lorwyn block, the single Morningtide printing of Cream had been on a very solid (2x) climb over the last year, but its reprint here will mean know more skimming off the top (tenuous I know - I tried something with the Cream thing - it didn't work, lets move on...)

Omnath Locus of the Roil: 2020s landfally elemental has held a $7-9 price for the last year, but that's probably destined to half now that there will be lots more of this temurry chap roiling around in peoples folders.

Endurance: one thing that won't be enduring is its $7-10 single-printing-premium price.

Fury: the emotion that anyone who's been stockpiling these is going to feel about their price next month:

Kindred summons: Already enjoying a 50% price dive another printing of this is going to leave people running from it like the elves in the Ryan Pancoast's beautiful art:

Titan of Industry: Ironically, no longer a titan of the industry, it does seem like it's going to be fun to evoke and airbend though. I'll wait a couple weeks to pick up a copy though.

Muldrotha the gravetide: She may have grown from rot, but her price looks like it will be in ruins and won't be doing much more blooming (that's right, I read the flavour text on every card...). She sees plenty of play but has also had an almost annual printing to keep that price suppressed.

Selvala, Heart of the Wilds: I'm a bit less convinced her price drop will be breaking hearts because she's in lots of decks and already had a lot of printings but still commands a solid price, but maybe this reprinting will chip it down a little.

Cards our data science algorithms pick as price risers if lots of people decide to Dance with the Elements
A big driver of these price changes is the commander

Â
and his chum:

So, all those Titans of Industry give you double triggers and only cost 4 now and your Furys give you double triggers on turn 3 when you cast Ashling and exile that red card. ORRRRR: they attack and give you a myriad of extra triggers!!
So: what cards might there be Limitless new demand for thanks to Ashling ('limitless' demand might be a stretch even for Ashling....).
5 colours leaves a lot of options for the algorithms, so we've plausibly missed a few here, but I got the algorithms to focus on elementals with ETBs.
Animar Soul of Elements: Which trusty elemental is missing from the precon list? Poor old Animar of course! Ignored while that cruel WOTC lot included all his elemental friends in the precon. But Animar would be the Soul of the elemental dance party: With 4 +1/+1s on Animar, Ashlings evoking everything for free! Animar already commands quite a chunky $20 price tag and its not going to go down with all its new evoking elemental chums.
(Note from the author: the TCGplayer affiliate linked copy below is quite a lot more terrifying than this cuddly sloth elemental)

Roaming Throne: This feels essential in the deck - you get to double all your Enter the Battlefield triggers. But at a very hefty $55 asking price, you might be better just trying your luck with a Lost Caverns of Ixalan Set Booster Box . Roaming throne is only a normal rare so you have an approximately 40% chance of opening it and might hit our next card too....
I guess at this price though, most people are going to opt for Panharmonicon.

Skullspore Nexus: So your evoked elementals are all sadly passing away after Ashlings used them up: well why not turn each of them into fungus dinosaurs? Finance wise: across the different versions there are only 20 copies left, with a pretty steep (50%) price jump after a couple sales and then that again shortly after.

Flamekin Harbinger: You're going to want to tutor up all those Maelstrom Wanderers and Mass of Mysteries and this is how you'll find them. Very limited recent printings so not a huge amount of supply since original Lorwyn.

Cavalier of Flame: Doubling Cavalier of Flames looting and burning feels pretty good or just giving your squad haste for Mass of Mysteries shenanigans. Looking at the sales data it looks like its already going through a bit of a buy-out right now on TCGPlayer so maybe if you're in the US you've missed the boat on this post. For all my European compadres though, there's a lot cheap (less than a euro) copies still on CardMarket for us.

Cavalier of Dawn: Similar vibes to Cavalier of Flame, but without the Mystery booster reprint (just a special guest one): its already been heavily bought in just the last 2 days on TCGplayer but plenty left on cardmarket.

Patriarch's Bidding: So you've just finished evoking all your elementals. What to do next with that graveyard full of dead elementals with excellent ETBs.... At $2 at the moment, it feels pretty risk free for a card that fits in lots of other decks (Omnath doesn't normally get to play this right?). Not very many sales gives it a doubling of price... Although for my European chums, there's a lot more stock on CardMarket than TCGplayer.

Maelstrom Nexus: so you've just evoked something HUGE for 4 mana thanks to Ashling, but you've not got nearly enough value out of it yet, well why not cheat in another elemental through a bit of cascading? Although it feels like a bit of a downgrade from Maelstrom Wanderer (which is in the precon) but why settle for just one? There are about 60 copies left across the different printings, but only a few left at $2 each then they double in price.

Ephemerate: I play a lot of pauper and generally everyone's favourite thing to do with their Mulldrifter is to ephemerate it with the evoke sac trigger on the stack, then Ephemerate it again next turn. Obviously here you want to Myriad your Mulldrifters with your Mass of Mysteries and draw oodles of cards, but for the games when that doesn't work or you need to protect Ashling or Mass, then Ephemerate will do a lot of work for the deck.

10. Solitude: Probably I should finish on Greater Good so you can turn all those evoked elementals into whole new hands, but it feels wrong to finish the elemental list on something that isn't an Elemental sooooo: Without its furious siblings reprint, its going to let Ashlings Swords their opponents a couple times for 0 mana at instant speed. But its price is kind of prohibitive already and maybe its not giving you enough extra for that price when you get the cool new Lamentation in the precon for your spot removal anyway?

Honorable Mentions: oh there were so so many... Here's a smattering of weird or just disgusting ones:
Phylath, World Sculptor: I've no idea what you do with all your plants once you've double evoked Phylath or Myriaded it, but you'll certainly have an excellent greenhouse. Currently the single printing of Phylath will set you back $0.5 and its been a while since Zendikar rising boosters were cracked.

Sylvan Awakening: I can't quite solve this one, but an AI component of our algorithms really liked it. It feels like there has to be some Sylvan Awakening shenanigans with Ashling? The cards already on a tidy rise from all the Earthbending that Avatar gave us and just has the single (Dominaria) printing).

Maskwood Nexus: desperate to give Emrakul evoke 4 or myriad, welllllllllll:

Closing thoughts: It feels a lot like Lost Caverns of Ixalan Booster Boxes are due for a price spike if the sets key cards don't get some reprints pretty soon. Beyond the bits here, there are all those Jurassic Park goodies that are in increasingly short supply (e.g. Spitting Dilophosaurus was one that the algorithms pushed for in our Blight Curse list)
